Nigel Slater makes a savoury apple crumble on the A to Z of cooking.
Nigel says: “Apples and Cheese are one of life perfect marriages, so use a good strong parmesan to add a real depth of flavour to the dish.”
The ingredients for the filling are: 6 assorted apples, 50g butter and 4 tbsp Madeira.
For the crumble topping: 250g butter, 250g plain flour, 100g parmesan, 100g breadcrumbs and 4 sprigs lemon thyme, picked.
