17 year old Katie Smith impressed at the X Factor auditions in Cardiff. The teenager works for Sainsbury’s but admitted that it ‘would mean everything’ to her, if she could sing for a living.

Katie sang Pixie Lott’s version of ‘Use Somebody’ for the panel. A song choice that must have put added pressure on her with Pixie Lott standing in for Dannii Minogue on the panel. Katie assured her:

“I didn’t know you were going to be a judge today, I’m sorry!”

She went on to give an impressive rendition of the track, originally by Kings Of Leon.

Pixie Lott said: I think you done it beautifully. I felt like I wanted to come on stage and join you for a little duet. You are very like Diana Vickers. I think you did a good job.

Cheryl said: I found myself pleasantly listening to the song and the words. I really enjoyed it.

Simon commented: You are very nervous. I think it’s just really important for someone like you to lose those nerves and have some confidence in yourself. I think you sang it really well.
