Jimmy Doherty takes on his final DIY task of the series, making his own sparkling cider.
Jimmy says: I recon I can make a British drink to rival Champaign.”
Jimmy DIY equipment cost around £40, but he employed the use of his car jack, to help crush the apples and a paint mixer to mash them.
For his cider he used 1/3 cooking apples to 2/3 eating apples.
After juicing the apples and adding the various additives, Jimmy’s cider was ready in 3 weeks but he had to add extra yeast and sugar and leave the bottles to rest for a further 6 months to make them sparkling.
