Chris Bavin set the task of making a apple Charlotte with Chantilly cream and butterscotch sauce on this week’s episode of Britain’s Best Home Cook.
The ingredients are: 120g caster sugar, 6 Cox’s apples, peeled, cored and chopped into 1cm pieces, 2 tbsp calvados, 1 orange, juice only, ½ tsp ground cinnamon, 100g salted butter, melted, plus extra for greasing and 6 slices white bread.
For the butterscotch sauce: 60g caster sugar, 20g unsalted butter and 200ml double cream.
For the Chantilly cream (optional): 200ml double cream, 2 tbsp icing sugar, sifted and few drops of vanilla extract.
