Phil Vickery served up a hearty beef and ale pie using chuck steak for British Pie Week on This Morning.
The ingredients are: 750g chuck steak, diced into 3cm cubes, 2 tbsp vegetable oil, ½ tbsp tomato puree, 2 small red onions, chopped, 1 large carrot peeled and chopped, 2 sticks celery, chopped, 1 tbsp creamed horseradish, 2 beef stock cubes, crumbled, 3 tbsp Worcester sauce, 2 tsp dried thyme, 2 tsp sugar, ½ pint best bitter, ½ pint of boiling water, salt and freshly ground black pepper, 3 tbsp flour, 2 tbsp cold water, 2 x 24cm chilled, ready rolled discs short crust pastry and 1 egg lightly beaten.
