Rochelle served up a hedgehog tipsy cake on Further Back in Time for Dinner that highlight the type of desserts available in the 1930’s.
In the weeks episode, chef Ainsley Harriott visited the Robshaw family and introduced them to a range of American sandwich fillings.
It was surprising to see how well the middle classes eat during that period, serving up nutritious dishes including poached salmon with piquant sauce, nasturtium salad and watercress salad.
However it was the hedgehog tipsy cake that caught the eye.
The ingredients includes: oval-shaped sponge or Madeira cake, White wine, sherry or brandy, 1 pint rich custard made with eggs and cream or milk (coating consistency), almonds and whipped cream.
