The Hairy Bikers served up delicious Welsh cakes with Welsh whiskey, sour cherries and orange zest on the Hairy Bikers – Chicken and Egg.
The Bikers says: “These Welsh cakes are a quick and easy teatime treat. The orange works well with the whiskey, but can easily be omitted.”
The ingredients are: 100g dried cherries, 100ml Welsh whiskey, 250g self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting, 50g caster sugar, plus extra for dusting, 125g butter, chilled and cut into cubes, 1 tsp orange zest, 1 free-range egg, beaten and lard or butter, for greasing.
