The Invention Test
Choosing from a range of ingredients, including neck of lamb, rabbit, chorizo, rhubarb, apricot and amaretto, the remaining 6 chefs are given an hour to cook a sweet or savoury dish that must wow the judges. Failing to deliver is costly because two will be on their way home after the judges – Michel Roux Jr and Monica Galetti – delivery their verdict on the chef’s efforts.
The Critics
The four remaining chefs that survives to this stage, must now showcase their skills to three of the UK’s toughest restaurant critics – Charles Campion, Tracey MacLeod and William Sitwell. With only an hour and a quarter, the chefs must deliver a jaw-dropping two-course menu; Only two will make it through to the semi-finals.

The Results
After a very intense week in the kitchen, the 6 chefs did all that they could, but it was an early exist for two of them. James Jones and Aline failed to make it to the last four quarter finalist and were sent home.
The last four chefs faced the food critics and after some very exciting plates of food and some not so exciting, the judges decided that the two chefs that would go through to the semi finals would be the two Davids.
