Whitney Houston was confirmed to have died today at age just 48.
Early reports suggest that the singing superstar was found in her room at the Beverly Hilton hotel, where she was believed to be getting ready to attend Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy gala in Los Angeles.
TMZ sources said that paramedics performed CPR, but she was pronounced dead at 3.55pm EST. Beverly Hills Police has said that there are “no obvious signs of criminal intent”, but added that an investigation into the cause of death has now begun.
The New Jersey-born singer, who had battled with drug and alcohol addiction, ended her 14-year marriage to singer Bobby Brown in 2006.
Huston’s music career had dipped in recent years but it was reported that she had recently landed a film role that would have put her back into the spotlight.
