According to reports the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2012 could win a visit to space if boss Simon Cowell gets his way!
The BGT boss said today he was “serious” about offering the top prize to this year’s winner, in partnership with the show’s new sponsors Virgin Media. Virgin, owned by tycoon Richard Branson, also own of the world’s first private space tourism ventures, Virgin Galactic.
“We are trying to work out a way so that the winner of the show gets to go up in the spacecraft and will be the first person to perform in space,” Simon explained.
“I am being serious, I swear to God. You could be the first singer or dog act, whatever, performing in space.”
And he said he’d be up there with them!
Simon revealed: “I would go on the spaceship myself. I love the idea that, if they are up for it, they have the option of performing in front of the whole planet in space. It can’t be compulsory, but it will happen.”
“If it’s a juggler that wins, then we’ll need to make heavier balls. If it had been a few years ago, Susan Boyle could have been singing Unchained Melody in front of the whole planet. Amazing.”
And in a dig at new rival BBC One show, he added: “What does the winner of The Voice get?”
