41 year old impressionist Les Gibson failed to win over all the judges tonight in his comedic act impersonating stars like Alan Sugar, Ant and Dec and Ross Kemp.
This evening he brought a few new characters to the stage including Masterchef’s Greg Wallace, Simon Cowell, X Factor judge Louis Walsh, Dermot O’Leary and David Hasselhoff.
For us there was no doubt that his best impersonation was David Hasselhoff. He got the accent perfectly right and even captured his humor. However, some of the other attempts weren’t so successful and we could tell that Cowell wasn’t impressed when Les took him on.
This is what the judges made of his performance:
Amanda admitted she is ‘rooting’ for Les though she preferred his semi final audition. She ‘loved The Hoff, loved Michael, loved Louis,’ but thinks Gibson needs to ‘work on Simon.’
Simon Cowell said that Les had made him sound like Boris Karloff, with a lisp. The music mogul insisted ‘I don’t have a lisp.’ He thought Dermot ‘sounded like Ross Kemp.’ Simon didn’t like the script either, telling Les ‘I think you’re going to be in trouble tonight, sorry.’
David Hasselhoff said: ‘I was laughing because I could understand the Hoff. Les comes out with confidence, he has great charisma, the audience loves him. I hope you do well tonight.’
Michael McIntyre said:
“I don’t think you should be disheartened Les. I applaud you for taking a chance. We’ve seen your best impressions, you were right to try and impersonate us and I think you’ll have a very very successful career.”
