Oxford students acapella boyband Out Of The Blue took the judges by surprise at their Britain’s Got Talent audition.
The group members, age between 18 and 22, impressed the judges with their comical rendition of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance and Justin Timberlake’s Sexy Back.
Before their performance they told the judges:
“We’re all students at either Oxford University or Oxford Brooks. We’re all doing very different degrees. We have Classics , Chemistry, Maths. It’s really nice to have a variety. We’re an acapella group, we don’t use any instruments. We think that’s really exciting. Within the group we’re all really good friends. Singing with mates is probably my favourite thing to do. Really belting it out is a lot of fun. Today is a momentous day for the group. We’ve been practising for quite a while now so we want to go out there and give it our best shot.”
Following their performance, judge Amanda Holden gave the boys a standing ovation and said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed it boys, it was a triumph!”
Michael added: “Out of the Blue, you see I just did not expect that… I want to see what you can do with other songs.” He added: “Fantastic, really enjoyed, it well done,” before sending the boys in blue through the next round.
And a delighted Louis Walsh said: “I thought it was going to be a serious choir … it was funny, original. I think the royal family need to see this… a big big yes from me.”
The boys made it through to the next stage with three yeses. Check Out their performance below:
