The Voice UK 2012 week 2 Results: Who was voted off? Hannah Berney and Ruth Ann St Luce

Tonight Hannah Berney and Ruth Ann St Luce became the second pair of contestants to be eliminated from The Voice UK following the public vote.

Hannah Berney was eliminated from Danny O’Donoghue team after finishing in the bottom two. Aleks Josh, Bo Bruce and David Julien were saved, leaving Hannah and Max Milner in the bottom two.

“As I said before – no one from my team or anybody’s team deserves to get knocked out after showing such heart, after showing such growth in such a short number of weeks. They’ve all come on in leaps and bounds in varying different ways,” Danny said as the results were announced.

Deciding between the pair, he continued: “Max – when I turned around for you I was in a bidding war with Will, and seeing what you did, you were standing there playing guitar I was seeing a lot of myself there too. You’ve shown so many sides of you throughout the course of this, it genuinely has been a pleasure being your mentor all this while.

“Hannah, from day one we’ve always been a collaborative team, we’ve always worked on everything together. That’s what I’ve loved. This show is just showcasing what amazing people are out there. The Voice itself has uncovered so many amazing artists that I don’t think the UK music scene is going to be the same again. I really don’t. The way you did that mash up, the way you tipped your hat to the old, to the new – that’s what the industry needs, people thinking in a unique way.”

Danny then had to make a decision between the pair. He said: “The person that I’m going to save is Max Milner.”

ruthannestluce the voiceRuth Ann St Luce from Team Jessie was in the bottom two with Toni Warne after Vince Kidd, Cassius Henry & Becky Hill were saved by the public vote.

Deciding who to save between Ruth Ann and Toni, Jessie reasoned: “Toni, I feel like people haven’t seen the best of you yet. Your vocal abilities are so extreme that when I’m in rehearsals with you I’m just – wow. The things that you can do with your voice and the things that you’ve overcome… as I said, your voice is timeless.

“Ruth Ann – you’re 18. And I will repeat myself in saying that the things that you can do with your voice so many singers would dream to be able to do. But you do have issues with pitch. It’s frustrating because the world gets to see maybe three performances so far of you, really properly.

“The one thing I will say is that the only thing that you don’t have is consistency. That’s something that comes with experience and time and learning your craft and that’s all it is. There are times when you’ve sung that song and it’s been 100% perfect, and we know that, people here may not know that yet – but I know that, and I need you to know that your path is just gleaming.”

Making her final choice, Jessie declared: “This is not the end for either of you. The person that I’m going to be saving… is Toni”.

As a result, Ruth Ann St Luce left the competition tonight.

Speaking to host Holly after her exit this evening, Ruth said: “It’s been a crazy rollercoaster doing this show, I’ve learned so much from Jessie – in fact from all of you guys [the coaches], some of the comments you’ve made and said to me have been life changing. This is not the end.”
