The X Factor Results: Matt Cardle Wins The X Factor

Matt Cardle has become the winner of the 2010 X Factor series.

The 27 year old former painter and decorator impressed from his very first audition through to his last song on finals night.  

On the night, Matt gave an excellent performance of Biffy Clyro’s ‘Many Of Horror,’ a song that we felt suited his voice very well. It will now become is debut single.

This is what the judges made of his performance:

Louis Walsh: You sang every note like you made it, it will be a number one record. I am looking forward to hearing your album because it will be contemporary pop at it’s best. You’ve got the voice!

Cheryl Cole: You sang that from the depth of your heart, it was your best performance from the whole series.

Simon Cowell: Thoroughly well deserved and I’ve got to tell you Matt, an incredible song and I agree with Cheryl, it was your best performance of the whole series.

Dannii Minogue: Matt that was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much and with a voice like that we are looking at a true star!


When Dermot O’Leary announced that Matt had taken the crown and Rebecca was the  runner up. On hearing the news a stunned Matt said:

I just want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for voting for me and congratulations to everybody who got to this stage, they should be so proud. There’s not enough time to thank everyone!

Rebecca Ferguson added:

I’m so happy, so grateful and Matt’s amazing, I am happy to have gotten so far.

Matt’s mentor Dannii Minogue gushed:

This man deserves it, he won’t let you down, it’s been an incredible ten weeks.
