Nigel Slater served up his dad’s delicious Christmas banana custard trifle on Nigel Slater: Eating Together.

The Ingredients are: 2 ready-made raspberry Swiss rolls, cut into 4cm/1½in-thick slices, 6 tbsp sweet sherry, 1 x 135g block blackcurrant jelly, custard powder, 500ml milk, 2 ripe bananas, peeled and chopped, 600ml double cream, 100g flaked almonds, 200g glacé cherries, sliced and 50g candied angelica.
