In this weekend’s X Factor competition we will see each act sing two songs for the first time in this series.

The seven remaining contestants are expected to perform rock songs as this week is said to be rock week.  Creative Director Brian Friendman revealed the changes on  the Xtra Factor, sparking rumours of another double elimination from the competition.

Speaking on the ITV2 spin-off show, Brian said: “The theme is seven contestants, 14 songs, two songs each. Usually everyone does one up-tempo and one ballad, so everyone is going to have to show a little bit of variety.”

In previous years when the contestants perform two songs we also see the judges’ vote removed, leaving the elimination results up to the public vote alone. However, with 7 contestants still in the competition and just 3 weeks left, it is not yet clear how many contestants will leave the show this weekend and whether or not the judges will have a say in who should go.

It will be interesting to see how many songs Wagner will sing (or should that be attempt to sing).
