The X Factor 2010 Results: Aiden Grimshaw Shock Elimination From The X Factor

Sunday night’s X Factor results show saw the first big shock of the series so far with Aiden Grimshaw leaving the competition.

Last week we saw Katie Waissel saved by the judges under very controversial circumstances to remain in the competition. This week it was the public’s turn to save her.

Aiden found himself in the bottom two alongside Katie Waissel after last night’s performances of Elton John tracks.

In the sing off, Katie performed ‘Save Me From Myself’ by Christina Aguilera while Aiden opted for ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ by Crowded House. This was Katie’s fourth time in the bottom two, and when asked by Dermot O’Leary how she was feeling she replied: “I don’t really know how I feel to be honest.”

After the performances Simon was first to vote. After a very long pause, he said: “I like them both… I’m going to keep Katie.”

Cheryl then voted, saying: “No matter what happens, I want to say you’ve both been great contenders. It was a great performance Aiden but my loyalty is with Katie.” She then  voted to send Aiden home.

Dannii said: “I always hate this bit of the show but the act I’m sending home is Katie.”

“It’s a really difficult one,” said Louis, “I’m going to save the person who I think has the most to give in the competition. The person I’m sending home is Katie.”

With the votes drawn the decision went to deadlock. Dermot O’Leary revealed that the act who polled the fewest public votes and leaving the competition was Aiden.

When Aiden was asked by Dermot O’Leary what he intended to do now? Aiden replied: “I am going to have a beer”.
