Cheryl Cole has reportedly been targeted by death threats because of her decision not to put Gamu Nhengu through to the X Factor Live finals.
The threats came in the form of a text messages that accused the Girls Aloud star of making “the biggest mistake of her life”.
According to The Sun, one of the warnings said: “Every1 has a bullet for you. (sic)”
The sender, who circulated the message to phones via BlackBerry Messenger, went as far as to claim that if he could not get to Cole, he would “drop” a girl with the same name.
It is though that the message was sent from Tottenham in North London.
A 25-year-old who received the message told the paper: “There was something very chilling about it – the way he said he’d never felt like that before.
“It seemed obsessional, like he was unstable. What if some poor girl is attacked just because her name is Cheryl?”
Scotland Yard and X Factor bosses are said to be investigating the message.
