On last night’s X Factor results show it was announced that in this year’s series a twist is planned for the first live finals show.

It has been reported that the twist is likely to take the form of a judges ‘Wildcard’.

Show bosses are expected to allow judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole to each select a further candidate from their respective categories who they originally rejected at the judge’s houses stage, one of which will then be voted back into the competition.

This means that all of the 20 acts ‘eliminated’ on tonight’s show will be back, with each judge choosing just one from their category to perform.
A total of 16 finalists will therefore do battle for the X Factor crown of 2010.
