Nadiya Hussain apple cake with olive oil icing and a spiced syrup recipe on Nadiya’s Fast Flavours

Nadiya Hussain served up a delicious vegan and gluten free apple cake with ground almonds, apple sauce, olive oil icing and a spiced syrup on Nadiya’s Fast Flavours.

The ingredients are: 180ml extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for greasing, 220g caster sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, 180g chunky apple sauce, 200g ground almonds, sifted, 200g plain flour, sifted and 1 tsp mixed spice.

For the syrup: 250ml apple juice, 100g caster sugar and 1 tsp mixed spice.

For the olive oil icing: 80ml extra-virgin olive oil and 80g icing sugar, sifted.
