Tom Read Wilson served up a delicious Victoria sponge with strawberry jam and custard buttercream that impressed Mary Berry on Celebrity Best Home Cook.
The ingredients are : 200g unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing, 200g caster sugar, 4 large free-range eggs, 200g self-raising flour and 1 tsp baking powder and 2 tbsp milk.
For the custard buttercream icing: 75g unsalted butter, softened, 150g icing sugar, sifted, plus extra for dusting and ½ tsp vanilla extract, 2 tbsp custard powder and 2 tbsp milk.
For the filling: 4–5 tbsp strawberry jam.
