Nadiya Hussain served up a delicious New Orleans mardi gras inspired King cake with praline cream filling and a colourful coconut topping on Nadiya Bakes.
The ingredients are: 600g strong bread flour, plus extra for dusting, 100g unsalted butter, melted and cooled, 7g fast-action dried yeast, 7g salt, 40g caster sugar, 230ml full-fat milk, plus extra if needed, 2 free-range eggs, butter or oil, for greasing.
For the praline filling: 70g caster sugar, 40g pecan nuts, 225g full-fat cream cheese, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp almond extract.
For the icing: 200g icing sugar, sifted and 2–3 tbsp cold water.
To finish: 50g desiccated coconut, green gel food colouring and yellow gel food colouring.
