The X Factor: Paije Richardson Locked In The Lyrics Second Time Around

19 year old cinema usher Paije Richardson divided the judges on Saturday night’s X Factor auditions in London after his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me To The Moon’.

He told judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh that:

“Singing is the only thing I love and the thing I want to do most in my life. If I do that for the rest of my life I’ll be very happy.”

After his jazzy performance of the song, Cheryl Cole told Paije that she was ‘on the fence,’ adding:

“Part of me was like wow and the other half of me wouldn’t let myself go, I don’t know. I have to be honest and something didn’t connect for me so I’m gonna say no”

Simon Cowell added:

“I’m sorry Paije but I agree with Cheryl on this. I was thinking at times, I could be at a wedding right now.”

But Louis turned out to be the good guy on this one fighting Paije’s corner. He left his seat and went back stage to ask page to return at the end of day with another song. He then begged Simon to give Paije another chance.

Paije returned a few hours later and sang Man’s World by James Brown. Cheryl Cole said:

“You definitely stepped it up. It was a much better performance and the crowd were really enjoying it. I’m going to say yes.”

Simon Cowell added:

“Look Paije, as I’ve always said, you’ve got a very good voice. You’ve got great taste in music, definitely better than what we saw earlier. Both Cheryl and myself are putting you through to th next round, well done.”
