16 year old X Factor contestant Niall Horan made it through to the next round of The show following his rendition of ‘So Sick‘ by Ne-Yo.
Niall said that he is hoping to become the UK’s answer to Justin Bieber. He claimed that he is often compared to the young Canadian popstar.
“I’m 16 and I want to be a big name like Beyoncé and Justin Bieber,” he said. “I’ve been compared to him a few times and it’s not a bad comparison. I want to sell out arenas, make an album and work with some of the best artists in the world.”
Cheryl Cole criticised the teenager’s song choice and gave him a no vote despite his “charming” personality.
Simon Cowell claimed that the singer was “not as good as he thought he was”, but gave him a yes vote anyway.
Louis Walsh gave his full backing to the Irish contestant, while Katy Perry was also impressed, describing him as “adorable” and “charismatic”.
The guest judge positive verdict sent Horan through to the Boot Camp stage of the competition.
