Birdhouse Bakery from Perthshire beats The Wee Boulangerie Bakery and Murrays Bakery on Britain’s Best Bakery

Three bakeries from Scotland compete in the Scotland and North West England heats of Britain’s Best bakery today were they were pushed to their limits by judges Mich Turner and Peter Sidwell.

The Wee Boulangerie Bakery, Murrays Bakery and The Birdhouse Bakery took on the challenges of the Wild Card bake using pistachio and meringue as the key ingredients in their bake and the Bakers Dozen Arbroath smokie tarts bake as well as showcasing their Speciality bakes to see who would move on to the regional finals.

For their Wild Card bake, the Birdhouse bakery made a Pistachio tart, The Wee Boulangerie Bakery made Pistachio Honey Nougat and Murrays Bakery produced Perth Pistachio pies.

After a tough day in the kitchen, it was the Birdhouse Bakery that the judges declared the winner of today’s heat. Their Wild Card bake captured the judge’s imagination and led them to believe that the Birdhouse bakers have a lot more to offer.
