Mary Berry served up venison cottage pie with red wine on Mary Berry Everyday.
Mary says: “Give an everyday classic a makeover with venison mince. Rich with red wine, this dish is smart enough for casual suppers with friends.”
The ingredients are: 2 tbsp oil, for frying, 6 rashers smoked streaky bacon, chopped, 1 large onion, finely chopped, 1 large carrot, finely chopped, 2 sprigs rosemary, leaves picked and chopped, 600g venison mince, 1 heaped tbsp plain flour, 300ml red wine, 500ml beef or game stock, salt and freshly ground black pepper.
For the topping: 1kg potatoes, chopped into 2cm cubes, knob of butter and splash milk.
