Pack Up is the second single by singer–songwriter Eliza Doolittle taken from the 22-year-old singer self-titled debut album. The song featuring Lloyd Wade, follows her very successful debut single “Skinny Genes”. ( Lloyd Wade is a Gospel an R&B singer who was once a contestant on The X Factor. He went on to work with the likes of Robert Palmer, Take That and Daniel Bedingfield ).
Pack Up samples the chorus from George Henry Powell marching song ‘Pack Up Your Troubles In Your Old Kit Bag’.
The music video was shot in Jamaica. It shows Eliza travelling by bus to different places within Jamaica and eventually ending up in Kingston the capital where she continues her journey on a motorbike.
The 22 year old who draws a lot of her musical influence from Destiny’s Child has been singing since the age of 12. She flew to Jamaica for 3 days to make the video and said:
“I thought it was so cute the idea of me coming out of a suitcase and it wasn’t too like ‘let’s try and make a really cool video with loads of effects’. Director Paul Minor’s references felt right, they were all from French movies and stuff. I thought it was quite sweet and romantic. It was in a war veteran bar, and all these kids and everyone came and danced. We tried to create that romantic happy vibe and Jamaica was perfect for it. I was there for three days. I didn’t really get to see everything but what I saw was so beautiful, white sand, turquoise water – like the ideal screen saver.”
