After surviving thirteen days in the jungle, Stefanie Powers has become the first celebrity to be eliminated from I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here this series.

The Hart to Hart actress was one of the six contestants in the ‘orange’ team, who faced the chop after losing the Bed Bugs immunity challenge.

Stefanie told presenters Ant and Dec: “The two reasons that I did the show were to raise money for charity and to be a poster child for lung cancer survivors.”

Asked how she coped with the various challenges she said: “I’m not afraid of the bugs. I knew I was gonna be dumped upon because I’d looked at your show on Youtube.

“It’s always a surprise, always a shock, but they don’t bother me and camping doesn’t bother me. I enjoyed the limited flora and fauna that I saw.”

She also defended Sinitta’s lack of success at the trials, saying: “Listen, she has made tremendous, tremendous strides. She actually now sleeps without putting herself under an entire canopy. She’s done a terrific job.

“She didn’t wanna go in to (her ‘Bed Bugs’ bed), and that’s understandable. We all tried to reassure her that that she should never feel her progress was negated by that.”

The eleven remaining celebrities now face the vote for tomorrow’s second elimination.
