Cheryl Cole was given the title Woman of the Year 2010 at a glitzy awards event, and perhaps at the same time cementing her status as the nation’s celebrity queen.

Cheryl, 26, recently announced her divorce to footballer Ashley Cole. This award might just be the tonic she needs to put the smile back on her face. Cheryl attended the event with her mother, and was presented with the night’s blue riband gong by heart-throb actor Jason Lewis, best known as Samantha’s boyfriend Jerry “Smith” Jerrod in Sex And the City. She told the audience:

“Put me on the stage with a mic and music and I’ll be there all day, but this is actually a daunting experience.

“Four or five years ago I’d never dreamt I’d be here amongst so may glamorous women. One person I definitely have to thank is my dentist. So thank you very much.”
