Nigel Lythgoe said today that he believe that a new series of So You think You Can Dance is possible for next year.
Speaking in a radio interview, Lythgoe said that he was aware of the media speculation of the demise of the show, but as far as he his concerned BBC bosses have not yet made a final decision on the future of the show.
The dance competition, judged by Migel Lythgoe, Arlene Phillips, Louise Redknapp and Sisco Gomez, was watched by a low of 2.2 million viewers in primetime Saturday night.
Despite the huge success in the US, where the format is now in its 8th series, the UK simply doesn’t appear that interested in this format of dance.
“Bosses tried to make it work over here. But they have now conceded that it is not going to and that it is time to focus on other things,” a source told The Sun. “It was a good format with good judges, but viewers here in Britain just did not connect with it like the people did in America.”
