Davina McCall and judges, Ashley Banjo, Adam Garcia and Kimberly Wyatt search to find the best act in 2011 good enough to win the biggest cash prize on British television of £250,000 is now at an end.
Last night in an amazing final, street/hip hop comedy dance duo Chris Donnelly and Wesley Clack was crowned best dance act of 2011 and walked away with the £250,000 cash prize. The duo delivered an amazing spectacle of dance that saw them receive a standing ovation from all the judges and an audience of 6,000 that were packed in the London Olympia.
On the night, 20 year old Chris and Wes was voted through by the public as one of the top three acts that would compete in a final dance off where the eventual winner would be crowned Got To Dance Champion 2011. They were joined by Razzle Dazzle and Alleviate who were both very impressive on the night especially Alleviate who we felt did more than enough to immerge as the winner, but it was not to be. However, taking nothing away from Chris and Wes who we believe are worthy winners, Alleviate brought a cutting edge to contemporary dance in this competition that gave us chills. They were simply outstanding!
Chris and Wes on the other hand, were the all round entertainers on the night. Their brand of street, hip hop and dance comedy was the best we have ever seen on television. Dancing to a mashup of music featuring Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, Like I Love You by Justin Timberlake, Ante Up by Busta Rhymes and Mysterious Girl by Peter Andre, the duo delivered a truly memorable performance.
Judge Ashley Banjo said: “I knew you guys were special from the moment I saw you. Your dancing and personality is amazing.
“I am always going to be a massive fan, you are the most unique act we have ever seen on Got To Dance.”
The other finalists were Dance Dynamix, Lauren, Trinity Warriors, Turbo and Two’s Company.
Many congratulations to Chris and Wes, hope they spend the cash wisely. Check out this video of the finals:
