The third semi finals of this year’s Got To Dance competition last night was highly entertaining. It was for us just as entertaining as the first semi final where we saw Alleviate and Chris & Wes go through to the live final.
The show kicked off with a dazzling display of martial arts from two brothers and their sister from Essex. They are known as ELM 3 Style and although they only received one gold star on the night, they set the stage for what was to prove to be a night of high quality dancing in the third semi final.
For us, the act that stole our hearts and that of the judges was little Octavia. She was simply amazing and as the youngest contestant in this year’s competition, it is mind blowing to think what she will be able to do in the years to come. We were gutted when she did not make it into the finals but we hope Octavia will return to the show in the future.
Another act that caught our eye on the night was Tap Attack. They without doubt have taken Tap dancing to the next level. Not only was their routine entertaining, but they made Tap dancing look hip, current and cool. We believe this group could do for Tap dancing what Diversity has not for Street.
The Public Vote
With so may good acts on the night it must have been a close run thing with the public vote. Even the judges had a problem predicting the winners on the night. Although, they all agreed like us and probably a lot of people at home, that Octavia would be in the finals. Sadly it was no to be, but the two acts that secured the public votes on the night and made it through to the live finals are Two’s Company and Lauren.
Both acts were amazing. Two’s Company from Belfast – 11 year old Jessica and 13 year old Britney – showed how flexible their bodies are so much so that they left Adam Garcia wondering if they were human.
Lauren danced with the elegance and grace she showed so much of in her audition. This level of consistency is inspiring.
Well done to both acts. They will now join Chris&Wes, Alleviate, Turbo and Dance Dynamix in the live finals at the London Olympia in two weeks time.
