It’s the semi-finals of Celebrity Masterchef 2014 and the eight semi-finalists face their toughest challenges yet.
Today the semi-finalist take on the challenge of cooking for Shakespeare’s 450th birthday celebration. One hundred members of the Shakespeare Society gathered at Mary Arden’s Farm, birthplace of William Shakespeare, to celebrate the anniversary.
In a battle between the girls and the boys, they must work in specially-constructed kitchens in marquees, on equipment they have never worked on before. The teams must design and create four mouth-watering dishes each (a meat dish, fish, vegetarian and dessert) from a selection of ingredients that would have been available at the time, including mutton, rabbit, pigeon and rainbow trout as well as a selection of fruit and vegetables and herbs and spices.
The celebs are given 3 hours to use the Tudor ingredients to deliver a feast fit for a Tudor banquet to impress the members of Shakespeare Society.
The boys served up, rabbit legs stuffed with liver and wrapped in bacon served with pearl barley risotto, roast trout, asparagus and an egg and leek potato pie.
The girls served up mutton stew, lemon sole served with baked ousters and turnips.
