Last night it was bad news for David after he failed to meet the standards in the kitchen expected by the MasterChef judges. David became the first chef to be sent home this week, but who is next in line for the chop?
It’s the third day of week 4 on MasterChef The Professionals, and the second four chefs go head to head to take on challenges set by MasterChef judges Michel Roux Junior and Monica Galetti, to see who will survive to cook again in the quarter finals and who will be sent home.
Their first task on Monday was to get through, Monica’s invention test. Now they must prove to Monica once again and Michel Roux Junior in the food classic challenge, that they have the skills to remain in the competition. Only three will make it into quarter finals on Thursday.
The four chefs that will cook for survival on Wednesday are:
The new chefs today are:

Adam 27, from Manchester – Started out as a waiter but soon realise he was not very good at it so he decided that life in the heat of the kitchen would suit him best. It completely changed his life; He now works as a Chef de partie.
Patrick 27, from Killinchy – Highly competitive, but being a chef is the only thing he is passionate about. (I wonder what he would be like as a football player).
Jack 21, from London – He currently cooks for rich city bankers and their clients. Considers himself to be an imaginative chef. His nickname in the kitchen is Rambo; Perhaps its because he wheels a knife like no other.
Chad 35, from Hollywell – He did not start cooking until he was 30. He previously worked in a call center before training as a chef. Chad believes high pressure situations in the kitchen calls for a very cool head. (I always wondered why chefs had hats that are so tall.)
The Skills Test
Monica and Gregg ask the chefs to make a creme patissiere and use it as base for a souffle. But first Monica prepared one to show Gregg show it should be done.
They are given just 15 minutes to complete the task so speed is paramount if they are to get the perfect rise and deliver a dessert that the judges are happy to eat.
The Classics Test
The last 4 chefs face Michel for the first time when he sets them two Classics Tests. Michel cooks a traditional French recipe of lamb’s kidneys in a three-mustard sauce with a savoyard potato cake – before giving the chefs one hour to replicate it.
With no weights or measurements and an unfamiliar recipe, this is the chance for the chefs to show off their knowledge and instinct and create a dish worthy of being judged by Michel.
Finally, the four are asked to cook their own choice of classic dish in just one hour, before Michel is joined by Monica to decide which chef will leave the competition.
The chefs did all that they could, serving up some very nice looking and tasty food. But in the end one had to go home, that unfortunate chef was Chad from Hollywell.
