2011 Live Show: Amelia Lily opens the show with a Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean

amelia lilyAmelia Lily opened the X Factor first live show of the series and impressed the judges with her performance.

The 16 year old Lily took on ‘Billie Jean’ by Michael Jackson but gave it a more upbeat and contemporary edge. It was a very energetic performance from her and her backing dancers, but for us it was good but not great.

Before she sang, Kelly Rowland admitted that she had high hopes for the pink haired beauty, confessing:
“Amelia is so ready and even at sixteen, she’s my little pop star!”

Judges Comments:

Louis Walsh: Amelia Lily you are opening up this show, what a great song choice. I loved the arrangement, I loved the styling, you deserve to be on that stage!

Tulisa Contostavlos: Amelia I tell you what, everything tonight from your energy to your vocals to your performance was absolutely amazing, you blew me away. I didn’t see you as a contender until now.

Gary Barlow: That was a really great opening to the show, it wasn’t amazing but it was really good. Let’s just think about this for a second, you are sixteen years old and you are opening the X Factor live shows. Amazing courage, well done.

Kelly Rowland: I am so proud of you, I know how hard you worked.
