{"id":5691,"date":"2011-09-25T12:38:45","date_gmt":"2011-09-25T11:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thetalentzone.co.uk\/musictv\/?p=5691"},"modified":"2011-09-25T12:38:45","modified_gmt":"2011-09-25T11:38:45","slug":"alesha-dixon-reveal-strictly-come-dancing-2011-betting-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetalentzone.co.uk\/musictv\/5691\/alesha-dixon-reveal-strictly-come-dancing-2011-betting-scandal\/","title":{"rendered":"Alesha Dixon Reveal Strictly Come Dancing 2011 Betting Scandal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"strictly come dancing scandal\" src=\"\/images\/uk\/realitytvspy\/strictly\/strictlycomedancing_logo.jpg\" alt=\"strictly come dancing scandal\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>With only a week to go before Strictly Come Dancing bounces back on to our screens, judge Alesha Dixon \u2013 who won the show in 2008 &#8211; has revealed how at the time of her victory one of the production crew thanked her for winning as he had backed her to win and that he had made \u00a38000 as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Dixon told the Daily Star Sunday: \u201cI was 25\/1 when it started and at the end of the series one of the producers came up to me and thanked me for just winning him \u00a38,000.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alesha was unaware at the time that this was not only breaking BBC guidelines which strictly forbid employees to gamble, but it could potentially be illegal.<\/p>\n<p>Since these allegations have emerged TV watchdog Mediawatch last night demanded the BBC launch a full investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Mediawatch director Vivienne Pattison said: \u201cViewers don\u2019t want to feel like they are being hard done by or taken advantage of. I would hope the BBC launches a full investigation into this as it has a duty to us the licence payer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Metropolitan Police spokesman added that any complaint regarding cheating in relation to gambling would be \u201cstringently investigated to the full extent of the law\u201d.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td>\nA BBC spokesperson insisted that all staff are expected to comply with the corporation\u2019s standards on fairness and impartiality. The producer could face a prison sentence of up to two years if found guilty.<\/p>\n<p>A source said: \u201cThis is a disaster for show bosses. It\u2019s an embarrassment for everyone involved. There are strict guidelines forbidding staff on the show from voting during the competition or placing bets on it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incident happened a while ago and the production team has changed significantly since then.
