This week\u2019s showstopper challenge saw the last five contestants having to make a dairy-free, 3D, vegetable, novelty cake based on any design of their choosing.<\/p>\n

It was a challenge that got Ruby smashing mixing bowls and Frances nearly set the place alight melting chocolate in the microwave. But the Bakeoff quarter finalists all managed to serve up an impressive treat \u2013 well almost.<\/p>\n

Kimberley\u2019s Spiced Butternut Squash Toad Stool House<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kimberly\u2019s Spiced Butternut Squash Toad Stool House cake looked great and the judges loved it too.<\/p>\n

Frances\u2019 Hidden Carrot Cake<\/strong><\/p>\n

Frances hidden carrot cake looked like a winner but was lacking in flavour. Paul found it quite bitter and Mary quibbled about making icing flower pots that did not look finish.<\/p>\n

Ruby\u2019s Carrot Cake and Pistachio Garden Plot<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ruby went all out to produce the most decorated cake she has done this series and consider it to be a personal best. Paul and Mary loved the design and presentation and also through it had plenty of flavour. It all led to Ruby finishing as star baker this week.<\/p>\n

Beca\u2019s Spiced Butternut Squash and Pecan Cheesecake<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beca took a risk making her Spiced Butternut Squash and Pecan Cheesecake because she had never made it before. Paul through it looked simple but yet affective and Mary said it looked wonderful, but unfortunately for Beca, both judges said it lacked flavour.<\/p>\n

Christine\u2019s Passion Fruit Marshmallow Fondant<\/strong><\/p>\n

Christine went distinctly rock and roll with a passion fruit marshmallow fondant covered electric guitar. The design impressed both Paul and Mary but unfortunately it was too bland on taste. For Christine that was not what she wanted to hear because it meant she finished in last place and left the competition.<\/p>\n
