Mike Ward takes on his idol Elvis Presley in the final of The Voice UK when he sings the Elvis Classic, Suspicious Minds.
The song is about a mistrusting and dysfunctional relationship, and the need to overcome the differences in the relationship in order to maintain it. It was written by Mark James in 1968 but was not made famous until Elvis recorded it in 1969.
23 year-old Mike Ward is a natural country singer which is why he also decided to perform Don’t Close Your Eyes by Keith Whitley in the final of The Voice to remind voters of his strength. The song was originally released by Keith Whitley in 1988 and was taken form his album with the same name.
Last but not least, the lad from Salford sings with his mentor Tom Jones performing one of Tom’s greatest hits Green Green Grass of Home. Tom originally record the track back in 1965 and it quickly became a worldwide hit that is still played on radio stations around the world today.
