Sam Buttery did enough at his audition this year to impress Sir Tom Jones and joined team Tom after his blind audition on tonight’s episode of The Voice UK.

The singer performed Adele’s Set Fire To The Rain during his audition. Sir Tom was the first and only coach to turn around during the performance, which seemed to please the 20-year-old.

“There were a few notes in there that sounded like me,” Sir Tom said, “You’ve got a great voice.”

Danny O’Donoghue was surprised to find out it was Sam on turning around, remarking: “I really thought you were going to be a girl!”
