This week saw a double elimination on The X Factor USA. The Thanks Giving song theme proved a bridge too far for Lakoda Rayne and LeRoy Bell, has they became the latest contestants to be voted off the show.
The girl group who performed Taylor Swift’s ‘You Belong With Me’ the night before, scored the lowest number of public votes on the night and had to leave the competition immediately without singing for survival. The result now leaves Paula Abdul without any acts in the competition.
The remaining two candidates who finished in the bottom three – LeRoy Bell and Marcus Canty – had to then go head to head in the sing-off in a last ditch attempt to impress judges Simon Cowell, LA Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.
Marcus did a rendition of Christina Aguilera’s ‘You Lost Me’, and LeRoy opted to sing The Beatles hit ‘Don’t Let Me Down’.
At the vote, L.A. and Simon voted to send home LeRoy, while Nicole and Paula voted to send home Marcus. Their decisions sent the competition into deadlock where the act with the lowest number of public votes is sent home. Unfortunately for Leroy, it was not his day and he was sent home has a result of the public votes.
Following their elimination, Lakoda Rayne’s Cari Fletcher admitted they “weren’t really expecting” to leave the programme.
In an interview with the show’s official website, she said: “To be honest, we weren’t really expecting it. Last night was definitely one of our best performances and we finally felt like we were coming into our own and really figuring out where we were supposed to be.”
