Before taking to the stage, the talented Mississippi native said:
‘What’s different about me is that I want to become a country singer, because you don’t find a lot of black teenagers that sing country music.’
However, on stage his rendition of the Billy Currington’s number did not get off to a good start because the backing track failed. For most people this would be a disaster, but Anderson kept right on singing, putting a bit more effort into his vocals and suddenly went from being an average singer to a contender to go all the way in the competition.
