Lisa Faulkner’s almond cake mince pies recipe on This Morning

Lisa Faulkner and John Torode served up delicious mince pies ( mincemeat financiers or French almond cakes) as part of their Christmas dishes offering on This Morning.

The ingredients for the mincemeat: 500g currants, 500g raisins, 500g peeled and cored cooking apples, 1-2 tbsp brandy, 1 tsp mixed spice, ½ tsp ground cinnamon, 500g sultanas, 500g soft brown sugar, 500g shredded suet and 1 orange, zest and juice.

For the financiers: 185g salted butter, 200g icing sugar, 90g plain flour, 100g ground almonds, 6 egg whites, 1 spoonful mincemeat and Icing sugar, for dusting.
