American rapper 50 Cent has signed X Factor Gamu Nhengu to his record label, G-Note.
Gamu shot to fame on last year’s X Factor series, in which she became a front runner to win the show but found herself at the centre of a controversy after Cheryl Cole failed to choose her for the live shows.
G-Note Records is a subsidiary of 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. The label was formed in late 2010 for Pop, Dance and R&B artists and a statement on their website today revealed that they renamed Gamu ‘Miss Gamucharai’. It read:
“Miss Gamuchirai has been singed to 50 Cent’s new record label, G-Note!”
Adding: “G-Note will focus on 50′s favourite acts that don’t fit neatly into G-Unit’s hip-hop categorisation and will favour pop and R&B artists.”
The website also claimed that 50 Cent has been interested in signing the Zimbabwean singer since he first saw her X Factor audition, but had to wait for her to be released from her show contract before signing her to his label.
