This season Got To Dance series kicked off with a range of dance styles with good and bad performances from the contestants for judges – Adam Garcia, Kimberley Wyatt and Ashley Banjo – to pass judgement on.
These are some of the acts that stood out for a variety of reasons:
Bridget aka Happiness
First up was Bridget, who describes dancing as her ‘zen’. Not sure what she really thinks of her dancing style but she served up a treat, delivering the most bonkers dance routine I’ve seen on British Television.
She describes her dance style as freestyle disco, but it was a series of jerky movements reminiscent of someone having a seizure. But it did get the audience and judges laughing perhaps because her leggings were falling down due to the graceless thumping she’s doing.
Happiness earned herself two gold stars that put her through, although Adam Garcia changed his red to gold when he learns that she took 34 years to choreograph her routine. Click here for video.
Formed three years ago, Razzle Dazzle are a group of 11 girls and 1 boy aged between 7 -12 years old from West and North Belfast performing a street dance routine. They performed with a lot of energy for ones so young impressing all three judges. They sailed through to the next round with 3 gold stars.
The Group founder Bronagh explained to Davina McCall:
“Razzle Dazzle are based around West and North Belfast and at certain parts of the year there is a lot of trouble that goes on to do with politics. Some of the kids live in the thick of it – at end of their street. When you see young talented kids getting into trouble it makes you feel sick to the stomach but when you’ve got some of them in class with you it is a delight – to think you could possibly be saving lives as it is so dangerous out there. “ Click here for video
Tamara
10 year old Tamara gives a simply amazing gymnastic display to Freddie Mercury’s Who Wants To Live Forever.
Dressing as a Lady GaGa impersonator, she danced brilliantly, and then flatters Kimberley Wyatt by describing her as an inspiration! Adam Garcia describes her as explosive. But Tamara wowed the judges enough to receive 3 gold stars to go through to the next round.
Trilogy
As the saying goes – saving the best till last. By any standard this group of young men and women were the very best on the night.
Trilogy were phenomenal; they delivered a visually stunning routine with excellent music selections – mixing up Black Eyed Peas and Wham in the same number, impressing the judges all the way.
On the night Trilogy received a standing ovation from all three judges, the first of the series so far. 3 gold stars saw them through to the next round and we thing they could go all the way to the finals with ease.
