Angela Hartnett serves up a delicious affordable baked vanilla custard tart with tea soaked prunes dessert that cost just 70p per slice on Food and Drink.
The ingredients the pastry are: 250g plain flour, plus extra for dusting, 45g icing sugar, pinch salt, 75g chilled unsalted butter, diced, plus extra for greasing, 2 free-range egg yolks, beaten and 15g ground almonds.
For the vanilla filling: 750ml double cream, 2 vanilla pods or 2 tsp vanilla extract, 12 free-range egg yolks and 125g caster sugar.
For the Earl Grey-soaked prunes: 125g prunes and 500ml hot Earl Grey tea (use 4 tea bags).
