“Emotional eaters are people who essentially almost self-medicate with food, they use food at times of high stress, crisis, or anxiety,” says Dr. Chris.
Susan Jebb says: “People often thing that diets are about will power, for get that! Diets are about habits. People can’t will themselves to loose weight, but they can change their habits.”
Emotional eaters must therefore place a great deal of emphasis on behavioural change if they are to loose weight and this can be achieved with the aid of group support. This will allow the group to encourage each other to stick to their diets.
