Lias Faulkner serves up a seasonal chicken katsu curry with home-grown ingredients for a Friday night on The Alan Titchhmarsh show.
Lias used apples from Alan’s garden as a key ingredient in her recipe. Lisa says: “The apples add sweetness without the need to add sugar.”
The ingredients for the curry are: 4 chicken breast fillets, 80/100g (approx.) breadcrumbs, 2 eggs, Flour (seasoned, for dusting), Vegetable oil, for frying and Plain, boiled rice, to serve.
For the Sauce: ½ onion, chopped, 1 clove garlic, roughly chopped, 2 small apples, grated, 1 tablespoons oil, 200ml chicken stock, 1 tablespoon turmeric, ½ tablespoon curry powder, 1 tablespoon ketchup, 200 ml water, 1 teaspoon light soy sauce, 1 teaspoon cornflour into 1 tbsp cold water and Salt and pepper.
