Jamie Oliver serves up sweet and sour fish balls on Jamie Money Saving Meals Extra Portions that is a fraction of the cost of a Chinese takeaway.
Jamie says: “This sweet and sour fish balls dish taste amazing, it is easy to make and is really cheap. I use frozen squids and prawns for this recipe, but fresh would also do.”
The ingredients for the fish balls are: bread crumbs, Chinese five spice, 400g squid, 450g prawns, fresh ginger, coriander stalks, 1 egg, 3tb cornflour and a pinch of salt.
For the sweet and sour sauce: 2 carrots, sliced, 1 red pepper, 1 yellow pepper, 4 chopped spring onions, 2tbsp cornflour, small tin of pineapple, pineapple juice from the tin, 2tbsp soy sauce, 2tbsp vinegar, 1tbsp chilli & garlic sauce, 400ml water, 1tbsp tomato purée and 75g frozen peas.
