John Torode makes sausages and onion gravy in 20 minutes on Celebrity Masterchef.
John says: “Make the onion gravy first because it takes longer to cook than the sausages. The vinegar softens the onions, make them go lovely and brown and also helps prevents them from burning.”
We believe the ingredients to be: 5 pork sausages, 2 large onions (sliced), 3 knobs of butter, 2tsp vinegar, sage, 2 tsp plain flour, 600ml stock (we think John used beef, but chicken or vegetable would be fine), ½ tsp dried mixed herbs, salt and black pepper.

To Amanda, interesting to see that you find that the vinegar is not necseesry in John Torodes onion Gravy.May i ask what your recipe for onion Gravy is please? Enjoyed your comment,Marc.
I disagree with John about the vinegar. I tried it and think it is a mistake – you can still taste it even when cooked out for twenty minutes and I prefer my regular recipe for onion gravy without any vinegar – maybe a teaspoon of sugar instead.
