John Whaite served the ultimate sausage and cheesy mash (Lancashire aligot and Cumbrian sausages) on Steph’s Packed Lunch.
The ingredients are: 250ml single cream, 2 bay leaves, 2 garlic cloves, peeled but left whole, 500g new potatoes, peeled, 125g unsalted butter, cold and cubed, 250g tasty/creamy Lancashire cheese, grated, Freshly grated nutmeg, to taste, Fine sea salt and freshly ground black pepper and 8 large, fat Cumbrian sausages (not the curly kind).
